Beyond The Abstract - The Value Of Combined Use Of Survivin, Cytokeratin 20 And Mucin 7 MRNA For Bladder Cancer Detection In Voided Urine

Beyond The Abstract - The Value Of Combined Use Of Survivin, Cytokeratin 20 And Mucin 7 MRNA For Bladder Cancer Detection In Voided Urine
UroToday.com - This study analyzed the clinical value of combined use of survivin, cytokeratin (CK) 20, and mucin (MUC) 7 mRNA in the detection of bladder cancer patients in China. The group evaluated these three markers in voided urine using traditional RT-PCR. It is confirmed that the overall sensitivity and specificity of the three markers were all higher than voided urine cytology.

Beyond The Abstract - P53 Gene And Protein Status: The Role Of P53 Alterations In Predicting Outcome In Patients With Bladder Cancer
UroToday.com - The function of the normal product of the TP53 gene, the p53 protein, forms the crucial basis of normal cell biology; conversely, the dysfunction of its mutant protein product underlies altered cellular response in cancer. One reason why the protein accumulates in human tumors is that wild-type p53 has a very short half-life (approximately 20 to 30 minutes), whereas mutant p53 proteins often have a much longer half-life (approximately 24 hours).

Beyond The Abstract - Sequential Bilateral Minimum Incision Endoscopic Radical Nephrectomy In Dialysis Patients With Bilateral Renal Cell Carcinomas
UroToday.com - Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) occurs in dialysis patients more frequent than the general non-dialyzed population. RCC in dialysis patients can often be multiple and sometimes occurs bilaterally. Dialysis patients often have poor physical status because of multiple complications such as respiratory or cardiac problems in addition to chronic renal failure (CRF).
