Office parties are meant to reward employees and encourage socializing between departments. While these parties can be a great way to unwind and talk to coworkers that you normally wouldn't, they can be particularly dangerous to your career if you don't conduct yourself with a certain amount of professionalism. Sure it's a party, but it's also a work sponsored party, which sadly means how you behave at the party can directly or indirectly affect your job or reputation within the company. Making fun of your boss in front of the company may get you a few laughs at the time, but come Monday the joke may be one you when you're told to clean out your desk.
